Marshmallow Cheeks

I've discovered heaven on earth
in the most surprising
of places

It's not high up on the mountain peak
where the wildflowers
without apology

It's not beaming
from the sun
as she kisses the ground

It's not in the savory
and sweet
burst of flavors
that tickle
the tongue

I'll give you a hint
there's no price tag
you can attach to it
or a way
you can hide them
from the world

And yet I when my lips brush against them
my world transforms
and I know
is heaven on earth

When you are grown
and have left the nest
I pray
that you will forever
share your
marshmallow cheeks
with me
